Coalition for Low Wage Workers

More than 100,000 workers in New York are underpaid, underemployed, and exploited by their employers.

To address these issues, dozens of organizations are involved in campaigns across New York City, all with the goal of raising wages and living standards, and stopping cutbacks and wage theft for thousands of New Yorkers.

In order to amplify and support all of these campaigns, a coalition has been organized that, working together, is working to coordinate these fights for low wage workers in New York and build toward a powerful day of action on July 24th to stop wage theft, cutbacks in wages, pensions and healthcare, and to protect the right to organize.

The goals of this movement include:

  • Galvanizing and engaging workers to take direct action
  • Highlighting employers who exploit workers
  • Utilizing the Federal and State minimum wage fights to bring workers together against exploitation
  • Bringing workers, community and faith together to create a movement that can – and will – win victories for working people

The next Coalition meeting is Wednesday, July 11st at 6:30 p.m. at SEIU 32BJ, located at 25 West 18th Street.  Click here to RSVP.

As a part of this, please plan to attend the Day of Action for Low Wage Workers on July 24th.  We’ll have more information soon.
