FREE Income Tax Prep available now!

Need assistance with your 2012 income taxes?

We can help!

New York Communities Organizing Fund, Inc. (NYCOFI) provides free income tax preparation services for people with low to moderate income through the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).

Located at 447 New Lots Avenue, our program serves hundreds of people each year, helping people who make $51,000 or less to prepare their tax returns.  Thanks to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), we have helped taxpayers receive as much as a $10,000 refund, with an average refund of close to $1,800.

In addition, representatives from local banks will be on hand to help folks open up checking or savings account. This can help to secure your financial future as well as speed up receipt of your refund.

We also assist our clients by helping those who want to get screened for benefits including low cost health care and food stamps.
